Galls, Diseases, and Pests - Unknown Fiddleneck Knot Gall

While it is unclear what caused these galls, most of them had lots of aphids on them. The Fiddleneck stalks had twisted into a knot. Photo 3 shows stalks partially twisted, but not knotted. I don't know if it eventually grew into a knot or not. I saw lots of the galls in 2022.
